Helicopter Spins Wildly into Palm Fronds at Well-Known Southern California Coast
An aircraft soaring over a popular coastal beach abruptly began spiraling uncontrollably, eventually descending rapidly and smashing into a row of palm groves as spectators observed.
Videos shared on the internet depict the chopper starting to spin near the shoreline then falling near the border of the coast, where it becomes wedged between palm trees and a steps near the Pacific Coast highway.
Emergency Response Information
Emergency responders reported five persons were transported to a medical facility involving a pair who were in the aircraft and were “safely pulled from the wreckage” after the crash on that day.
Three persons on the pavement were hurt. Information on their condition were not immediately available.
The reason for the accident was still under investigation.
